Hello Beautiful Souls,
I’m so excited to share something special with you today. Recently, Lisa Hogan and I had the pleasure of sitting down with the amazing Agnes Amisano and Ryan O'neil Williams on their vodcast Love, Death, and Taxes. We talked about something that resonates deeply with so many of us—burnout. As someone who’s walked the challenging path of balancing a demanding career and personal well-being, I know firsthand how burnout can creep up and overwhelm you. But there’s hope, and it comes in the form of something truly transformative: yoga.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re running on empty, pushing through stress day after day, I want you to take a moment to watch our conversation. In the video, Lisa and I dive into how yoga has changed our lives and how it can change yours too. Here’s a sneak peek of what we covered and why it matters.
Why Yoga?
You might be wondering, “Why yoga? Can’t I just hit the gym or try physical therapy?” Believe me, I’ve been there. As a registered nurse for many years, I’ve seen the toll that stress and physical strain can take on the body and mind. Yoga is unique because it’s not just about moving your body—it’s about connecting movement with breath. This connection is the secret sauce that helps calm the mind, heal the body, and restore emotional balance.
In the video, we discuss how yoga helps shift your body from that constant state of “fight or flight” (which is where burnout lives) into a place of rest and recovery. By slowing down, focusing on breath, and moving with intention, you can reset your nervous system and begin to rebuild your inner reserves.
Our Journey and Yours
Lisa and I both came to yoga from a place of pain—physical injuries that wouldn’t quit and the mental strain of trying to juggle work, life, and everything in between. Yoga didn’t just help us cope; it helped us *heal*. And now, we want to share that healing with you. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, our classes at West Door Yoga are designed to meet you where you are.
We offer a variety of classes, including Yin Yoga, which we talk about in the video. Yin is all about deep stretches and long holds—perfect for releasing tension in those tight spots that stress loves to hang out in. And for those of you just starting out, don’t worry! We always build a strong foundation in our classes, making sure you feel supported and safe every step of the way.
