Why People Seek Reiki for Stress and Burnout
Lately, stress has been overwhelming. The winter has been long, the days cold and short, and exhaustion has set in. Sleep remains inconsistent and burnout is a word you relate to more than you would like.
So, after listening to your friends, your family, and maybe even Instagram, you decide to try yoga again.
People often come to yoga looking for one thing and end up staying for another.
At West Door, that “other” became Reiki.

At West Door Yoga + Wellness, that discovery started early. People came in for yoga looking for relief from stress, better sleep, or simply a place to reset for an hour. After class, conversations often turned to Reiki, and curiosity slowly turned into appointments.
Six months after opening, our community voted West Door Best of Long Island Yoga Studio.
This year, our community voted West Door Best of Long Island for Reiki. Yoga and energetic healing form the foundation of the work here, and this recognition affirms that.
What Reiki Is and How Energy Healing Supports the Nervous System
Reiki is a hands-on energy practice that supports nervous system regulation. It comes from Japanese healing traditions and works with the life energy that flows through all living systems.
People often try Reiki when daily stress shows up physically in the body.
Common reasons people explore Reiki
Sleep disruption Trouble falling asleep. Waking through the night. A mind that continues running long after the lights go out.
Chronic stress and overwhelm Work pressure, caregiving demands, and constant mental load can keep the nervous system in a prolonged state of alert.
Physical tension linked to emotional pressure Tight shoulders, headaches, fatigue, digestive discomfort, and a persistent sense of internal pressure.
Reiki is used in supportive care environments including hospitals, stress therapy settings, hospice care, and veterinary environments with animals.
Medical centers such as Cleveland Clinic describe Reiki as a gentle supportive practice that may reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support the body's natural healing response.
Additional research and educational information can be found through the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, which studies complementary health approaches including Reiki.
